The following represents everything we know about the DC Studios films on the way and in development, as well as a few DC adaptations that will exist separate from the universe. And after a pause in 2024, the DCU will begin anew. 2023 delivers on the last remaining projects from that original slate in the form of Aquaman and Shazam sequels. And even as features like Aquaman and Shazam! went into production, the studio never stopped trying to get new projects off the ground utilizing the comic book characters and the universe initiated by 2013’s Man of Steel.
Despite projects shifting around the slate – and the critical backlash against Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League – the original 2014 master plan has been executed for the most part, with only 2018 missing a second DC-derived film and Cyborg disappearing entirely. Things did not go according to plan, with Justice League compressing its story into one film and projects like The Flash feature film experiencing constant delays.
The original schedule included a two-part Justice League project and at least two films a year through 2020.

But before the plan could really get underway, DC Films’ parent company was sold to Discovery, Inc. Television’s suite of ongoing shows like The Flash and Pennyworth. Many years later, the publishing house would bring back its Multiverse and inspire DC Films to use the concept as an overarching narrative structure for its slate of films and Warner Bros. In 1985, DC Comics merged its fictional Multiverse into one, seemingly coherent world.
